absolutely killer bass solo (more like a bass break I guess) here

repeats the same motif but its totally locked in with the drums and feels incredible

I've listened to this song a lot while traveling, mostly because the lyrics are kind of about it.

album art for Far AwayFar Away is not super similar to this song musically, but it evokes the same feeling of wanting to explore somewhere new. I also listen to it a lot while travelling

counterpoint in bass here - plays a different melody

I love, love love the opening of this song - just bass and voice, and the bass plays such a lovely counterpoint to the vocals. Reminiscent of the best of Esperanza Spalding - album art for Samba Em PreludioSamba Em Preludio comes to mind, which also opens with just bass and voice before guitar and percussion come in

killer #bass line

absolutely killer organ #solo here. very jazzy, reminds me of the solo on album art for South of the RiverSouth of the River

Only here do the drums break into a standard rock beat. The bass begins to play root notes. Finally breaking into a rock rhythm creates this triumphant feeling, fitting after such a long buildup.

Here the song enters a bridge like section, the chords change slightly, a flute enters with a new melody, the bass begins to play more traditionally, and some light percussion begins, mostly cymbals.

Great bass fill here too

public
tasteful lil #bass lick here. starts by quoting the melody

I quite like the #bass part on this - feels almost baroque?

...

The lyrics here reference the chord progression used in the song - "4 7 3 6 2 5 1 to put my mind at ease" refer to the chords used in the song.

The lyrics immediately before this are "Someone wrote this song before, and I could tell you where it's from" - which makes sense, because they're the chords to album art for Autumn LeavesAutumn Leaves, a well known jazz standard.

Weirdly self referential/meta lyrics!

The intro riff here is “recontextualized” when the drums come in - you count the riff one way before it comes in and differently after. Specifically you count the one on a different note.

Similar to the start of album art for Time & PlaceTime & Place

I like this Vulfpeck of doing multiple versions of a song - this seems to be a variant of album art for BeastlyBeastly

They do this with album art for It Gets FunkierIt Gets Funkier

incredible #bass here, per usual from joe dart

Absolutely insane #bass #solo in the middle of this song.

I've listened to a few renditions of this song (Bill Evan's is pretty nice - album art for Beautiful LoveBeautiful Love), and this is my favorite so far. What's strange however is that all of these covers are piano or guitar trios, sometimes with both (like Anita O Day's version - album art for Beautiful LoveBeautiful Love).

I wanted to hear a saxophone or trumpet solo over these changes but couldn't find anything.

Taking a cursory look at Youtube (searching "Beautiful Love Saxophone Solo"), all of the results seem to be instructional (e.g. "easy beginner beautiful love saxophone solo"). Maybe these changes are too easy or boring for a serious sax player?

song opens with a beastly bass solo. really like the bright bass tone, sounds like its picked quite aggressively near the bridge

...

public
Incredibly punch, trebly, palm muted, picked #bass #tone here

...

This song's structure is quite interesting - the chords don't change at all throughout the song, save for some slight deviations in the middle.

For the first half of the song, there aren't any drums, and the #bass plays quite melodically - in a higher range, and it doesn't outline the root notes very strictly.

This is simply one of my favorite songs of all time, it fills me with feelings of peace and tranquility, but also a feeling of yearning and sadness. It's bittersweet.

really fascinated by #bass covers of #classical music

The vocal line is incredibly creative here, sounds #chromatic to me

I don't think I've ever heard a groove like this before

filthy, disgusting borderline unethical #bass #solo

public
Super sick #bass part

worth a #transcribe for sure

blazing #guitar #solo on this

...

public
super groovy #bass line

Some really incredible #guitar #rhythm fills here, some rnb chord hammer ons and some more bluesy bends as well

...

public
the #synth #solo on this plays slightly outside in a way that shouldn't be too crazy to #transcribe

could be an easy starting point for trying to learn more harmonically adventurous solos

absolute banger of a #bass line
